Config.wtf is a file that contains a number of system-wide settings which are shared between accounts and characters, mostly having to do with graphical display and sound parameters.

It is located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Config.wtf


SET locale "locale" -- enUS, enGB, etc
SET realmList "localhost" -- realmlist, named pipe or IP address of the hosting logon server.
SET hwDetect "0" -- Detect hardware for best performance (graphical, unsure of cpu core detection)
SET gxResolution "1680x1050" -- Resolution
SET gxRefresh "60" -- Refresh rate of the game world, best left at 60.
SET gxMultisample "8" -- Multisampling
SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000" -- Multisample, quality? Seems 0 is highest?
SET gxFixLag "0" -- Fixes lag on integrated chipsets and low CPU power environments where possible. THIS WILL CREATE LAG on MODERATELY fast systems and will cause problems instead of fixing them!
SET videoOptionsVersion "3" -- Obscure, assume this is affected by the slider in the video options.
SET textureFilteringMode "5" -- Texture filtering, quality of textures loaded into video cache.
SET movie "0" -- Has the user watched the entrance movies(1-yes,0-no)
SET Gamma "1.000000" -- Gamma for gammacorrection (brightness)
SET readTOS "1" -- Has the user read the TOS(1-yes,0-no)
SET readEULA "1" -- Has the user read the EULA(1-yes,0-no)
SET showToolsUI "1" -- Does the user want the launcher shown(1-yes,0-no)
SET Sound_OutputDriverName "" -- As the name says, sound output name
SET Sound_MusicVolume "1" -- MusicVolume
SET Sound_AmbienceVolume "1" -- AmbienceVolume
SET componentTextureLevel "9" -- componentTextureLevel render levels or sharpness levels of textures
SET shadowLevel "0" -- shadow detail level (1-6)
SET farclip "1277" -- how far away can the player see
SET groundEffectDensity "64" -- frequency of bushes showing (Defined on the tile)
SET groundEffectDist "140" -- how far away you can see bushes
SET environmentDetail "1.5" -- Possibly ground texture detail/misc textures
SET extShadowQuality "3" -- exterior shadow quality (overrides shadowLevel and is inuse, shadowLevel is depreciated by this)
SET projectedTextures "1" -- wither or not to "project textures", which means reflections based on texture color?
SET weatherDensity "3" -- density of raindrops, sandstorm particles, etc
SET accounttype "LK" -- accounttype is set by the first login to the account and updated thereafter on login, this must affect something (guessing icons in character create)
SET gameTip "5" -- Gametips level? Must track what/where the user has been/seen etc.
SET mouseSpeed "1" -- how fast does the mouse move?
SET Sound_OutputQuality "2" -- Quality of sound
SET Sound_NumChannels "64" -- number of sound channels
SET Sound_EnableReverb "1" -- enable reverberation effects
SET Sound_EnableHardware "1" -- enable sound hardware acceleration
SET Sound_ZoneMusicNoDelay "1" -- immediately switch to zone's music on transition?
SET Sound_EnableSoundWhenGameIsInBG "1" -- enable sound while game is minimized

SET processAffinityMask "15" -- how many cores of the processor to use, bitmask value
SET timingTestError "0" -- test for cpu timing slips
SET gxApi "d3d9ex" -- set graphics API to use, d3d9, d3d9ex(rewritten library), opengl - d3d9ex is recommended 
SET textureCacheSize "64" -- set texture cache size, 32 for 32 bit systems, 64 for 64 bit systems
SET gxTextureCacheSize "600" -- gxTextureCacheSize is how much video memory(MB) to use for the game's textures, leave at zero to allow the game to automatically reserve a good amount
SET Sound_OutputDriverIndex "1" -- Which output driver to use on a numbered list?
SET portal "us" -- battle.net logon server portals, this is not in use unless you use a email format username to logon with
SET accountName "Documentation" -- saved account name for the login screen
SET lastCharacterIndex "6" -- Last character the user was using before logout
SET realmName "MyRealm" -- Last realm name, used when the user logs in and is displayed in the bottom right corner of the gluescreen
SET Sound_EnableMusic "0" -- Is music enabled?
